Adelaide Sourberry (formally known as Mrs. Sourberry) is a human character who is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series.
Personality[]
She is a very kind motherly woman who only wants what is best for King Gerard, never stepping beyond her boundaries to impose anything upon her master even when his life and kingdom may be in danger. She is a very devout Catholic who prays for the well-being of the king both day and night.
Role[]
She is the maidservant of King Gerard who has served in his castle long before he was born. When Gerard's parents King Garrett and Queen Julienne have died, his aunt Lady Imperia was put in charge of raising the child as the regent of the family's kingdom until he was old enough to be crowned king. However, Imperia desired to have the throne for herself and had her servant Thorick put Gerard in the dungeon when he was at the age of coronation. Mrs. Sourberry, in the meantime, had no idea what had happened to Gerard, and was only told by Lady Imperia that the child had fallen ill of a possibly fatal disease and had to be moved to a safe place so he could made comfortable in his final days. When Gerard escaped from his prison with the help of Clockwork Smurf, she assumed that he was simply a delusional child when she saw him in his prisoner's clothes and sent him on his way out of the castle. Later on, when Gerard returned with the Smurfs in the clothes of the prince, Mrs. Sourberry learned of Lady Imperia's deception and was grateful when she was ousted from the kingdom, with Gerard rightfully crowned as king.
Mrs. Sourberry continued to serve King Gerard long after he had married Queen Guinevere and had a child through her named Jared. She admitted that with the introduction of the Clockwork Smurf family that was created at the time of Gerard and Guinevere's wedding, she had her hands full trying to keep them from getting into any trouble.
