Alternis is a character who is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series.

He is a time guardian who lives inside a temple hidden within the Smurf Forest that holds the mysterious Wheel Of Alternity, which allows whoever spins it to experience an alternate timeline based on whatever decisions were made regarding the person. Empath first encountered Alternis during an Unhappiness Day and through him experienced the life he would have lived if Papa Smurf had never sent him to Psychelia in the first place.
Alternis continually appears with Father Time and Traveler Smurf at various occasions where the Smurfs and their related characters may experience being in alternate timelines. Because Alternis claims that his temple occupies the same location in all timelines, it is likely that he also exists in all timelines simultaneously.
