Argus is a human character that is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, mostly appearing in flashback stories that take place before Empath's final return from Psychelia.
History[]
He is the elder cousin of Gargamel who originally used his sorcery for evil purposes, but eventually renounced such use when he befriended Papa Smurf. Realizing how powerful and dangerous his collection of magic books and artifacts would be if they were to fall into the wrong hands, Argus cast a spell on his castle that would make everything in it disappear on the day that he died. The only artifact that his spell had no effect on was the Medallion of Poseidon, which he entrusted to Papa Smurf to bury deep in the ground and render it inert on the day that he died. Gargamel, however, stole one of the books from Argus' library which would activate the power of the medallion, and when Brainy unearthed the medallion and had it repainted as the Smurfic Games Tournament medal, he recited the incantation that would activate the medallion's destructive power.
Clothing And Appearance[]
In the years that he was living, Argus wore a blue-grey sorcerer's robe cinched with a gold belt and a dark blue-grey cape. He had long grey hair, a beard, and bushy eyebrows.
