The Chalice Of Conquest is a mystical object held by Ares the god of war in his dark temple, which is featured in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story "Smurfing In Heaven".
It is a golden chalice that is filled with the blood of every man slain since the history of the world, which sits in a chamber surrounded by fire that only the bravest of souls may enter. Ares claims that drinking the contents of the chalice would give that person immortality and godhood. In reality, though, according to what Hermes the god of speed knows about the chalice, it turns whoever drinks its contents into a demonic being who would be under Ares' control, with the person so corrupted by its power they wouldn't know that they have been deceived.
In the story, Empath was swayed into entering the chamber to drink from the chalice with the promise that he would have power to bring his fellow Smurfs back home from their time-traveling journey. Before he was able to drink a single drop, though, Hermes rushed into the temple and rescued Empath with the help of Polaris Psyche, preventing him from making a terrible mistake that would have cost him his soul.
