Chlorhydris is a human character that is part of the HERO: The Guardian Smurf story series.
Background Information
She is a sorceress who lives by herself in an observatory with only a pet toucan to keep her company. In "Chlorhydris' Lost Love", it was revealed that she fell in love with a wizard that she was going to marry, but he never showed up at the altar, leaving her heartbroken. From that point on, she has been making it her life's ambition to make the world feel as cold as she does, and the usual targets of her emotion-based spells tend to be the Smurfs, who are often happy. She has a daughter named Priscilla, who was one of her victims as she turned her into an old hag and the only way to break the curse was to have two Smurfs provide tears for her formula.
In the story "Hero's Wedding" she and Hogatha teamed up in order to ruin the happy day for the two Smurfs, but the plan didn't work out when Hawkeye launched an arrow at Smurfette's cage and gives Hero enough time to rescue Wonder, and the other Smurfs time to escape, before Hero caused her observatory to explode.
She returns years later in the story "The Mirror Universe", where she casts a spell on the Mirror of Opposition that drags whatever was once part of it back into itself, with no means of ever escaping. It soon begins to drag all the Smurfettes back into itself, with Wonder being the last Smurfette to be dragged into it. Hero and all the other Smurfs had to enter the mirror and rescue their partners before her spell wore off. They soon learned that the universe was ruled by a corrupt ruler called the Mirror Master, who abused his authority to get whatever he wanted. They eventually rescued their partners and escape from the Mirror Universe.
