Dreamy is a Smurf character, and a main protagonist of the Butterverse
History[]
Dreamy is one of the adults of the current generation that currently resides in the village. At one point, he had an incident with a famed ‘fickle flower’ that accidentally combined Marco Smurf and Tracker Smurf into one person. The Spell was broken when Dreamy realised his true desire.
Personality[]
Dreamy is a calm and gentle Smurf, who always has his head in the clouds. His affinity for day dreaming and deep questions has sometimes gained the mild annoyance of his peers, due to his tendency to abandon projects or cause new ones, but he is well loved by his friends and respected as the captain of the S.S. Smurf II. He can occasionally be a little too enthusiastic, or may blurt out his thoughts without thinking first about the consequences or atmosphere of the room.
Appearance[]
Dreamy is of average height and physique for a Smurf. He wears white leggings, and a white admirals hat over his regular Smurf hat. He’ll also often be seen dressing up, usually as an astronaut, but other roles such as a king or an explorer are known to be in his interests.
Role In The Village[]
Dreamy mostly works odd jobs around the village, but his main role is as a captain on the S.S. Smurf II. This ship takes care of most of the Smurfs high seas adventures, from travel to rescuing, and bringing back certain objects from overseas, including Smurfberries.
Relationships[]
Papa Smurf[]
Dreamy looks up to Papa Smurf much the same as the rest of the village, going to him with his queries and respecting his wisdom. Dreamy knows Papa tries not to judge him for his (occasionally childish) fantasies, and appreciates this.
Marco Smurf[]
Marco Smurf is one of Dreamy’s closest friends. As a young Smurfling, Dreamy suffered from sleepwalking, and one night during an episode of this, ended up falling into the river Smurf. Luckily for him, Marco Smurf was nearby star charting and managed to save his fellow Smurfling before any harm came to him. From that day forth, Dreamy revered Marco with awe, starting his lifelong fascination with the high seas and sailing.
His crush lasted for almost a century, in spite of the fact Marco would often disappear for years at a time. Dreamy always considered journeying with him at times, but although he longed for adventure, in reality he felt much safer closer to the village, and never quite worked up the courage to travel with him. Inevitably, Dreamy decides that he would prefer to stay in the village with Tracker Smurf, finally relinquishing his childhood fancy. The two are still very much close, thankfully without the awkward tension Dreamy used to have around him.
Tracker Smurf[]
Tracker is Dreamy’s life partner and best friend. Tracker originally assigned himself as a partner to help Dreamy during truffle hunting season, and the two formed a close friendship during this time. Simultaneously, Dreamy began to develop a very strong crush on his friend, but his courage would always fail him every time he attempted to voice it, or he would be interrupted by some outside force.
At one point, during a return visit from Marco Smurf, Dreamy found himself conflicted, as he had very strong feelings towards both of them. He accidentally makes the situation worse when he wishes on a fickle flower to make the choice for him. This actually merges Marco and Tracker into one person. Due to an unbeknownst potion given to him by Papa Smurf, Dreamy eventually realises his feelings for Tracker are stronger, and he’s able to make the choice that undoes the spell.
Dreamy was the one who proposed between them, after inviting Tracker for an evening meal on his ship. He did accidentally trip due to nerves, but the proposal was well received. Even after years of marriage, Dreamy is still enamoured with Tracker, and says himself that he couldn’t be happier.
Rover Smurf[]
Rover Smurf is Dreamy’s son, and Dreamy dotes on him. During the incident with Tracker’s illness when Rover was a Smurfling, Dreamy spent a lot of time with him, and the two formed a close bond whilst waiting anxiously for Tracker’s cure to arrive. Even though they shared this, Dreamy was reluctant to reveal his dyslexia to his son, fearing it would make him seem stupid to him, and often redirected Rover away from reading bedtime stories to him. This ends up almost backfiring, as Rover begins to assume Dreamy does not like him. Tracker corrects this and explains Dreamy’s condition at an age-appropriate level of explanation. Rover finally understands, and choses instead to read TO Dreamy, which he loves.
Nova Sweef[]
Dreamy agrees to take in the nibling of his good friend Britt following the death of Nova's parents. As a lover of all things outer-smurf and having spent a lot of time with Britt, the Sweef felt Dreamy was the only one he trusted to take care of them. Although raising an alien baby came with it's own challenges, Dreamy rose to the challenge well, and was the first to support Nova during their eventual coming out on the identity crisis. Dreamy is generally the first Nova will go to for advice or to geek out over space-themed stuff,
Britt Sweef[]
Britt is a very good friend of Dreamy that he initially met when part of Britt's ship got stuck in the Smurf's water wheel, causing it to go haywire. Britt eventually returned to earth after Dreamy's letters to the 'Swoofs' ended up going to a Sweef named Talis, who happened to be friends with Britt and reconnected them. Britt frequently visits Earth now in order to keep up his pen-pal friendship with Dreamy and to see Nova. Although platonic, there may be something else to this relationship...
Trivia[]
- Dreamy has dyslexia, and so cannot read or write properly. He does attempt to, and Poet Smurf has created a dyslexia friendly font for him to use when he needs something important on paper. Because of this, he also loves listening to others read out loud to him, especially Tracker.
- Dreamy has a ‘thing’ for English accents, as he jokes. Except he’s not really joking.
- Dreamy tends to wear his admiral hat more often in this au, to identify him out of the crowd, even when he isn’t sailing.
