Background Information
Ever since he was a baby Smurf, Dreamy has had an active imagination and a desire to explore the unknown regardless of the dangers. As he grew, his daydreaming ways never waned, although he has grown to understand the importance of caution, restraint, and consequence for the ideas that he sees fit to pursue in reality -- such as becoming an Astro Smurf to explore a new planet, which turned out to have been an elaborate (but well-meaning) hoax put on by his fellow Smurfs to make him happy.
His patience wavers at times, but he is generally a caring and sympathetic individual who loves to hear out his fellow Smurfs' ideas as much as he hopes that they will so in return. He is quick to jump at a chance to do something new, but he is seldom taken seriously when he proposes his more "out there" fantasies, such as his first pitch to become a sea-faring adventurer in search of a new land. His persistence, however, is to be admired. When he sets his heart onto something and is told that it could not work, he is known to do everything in his power to gain support for the idea(s) in mind, and he only gives up when he has exhausted every attempt at success.
Role in the Village
For the most part, Dreamy is considered a visionary who often daydreams about undiscovered lands, grand adventures, and possible inventions for the future. Some of his ideas find ways of becoming reality with help from other Smurfs such as Architect, Handy, and Papa Smurf, but while some have become great successes, others do not. Still, Dreamy almost always has his head in the clouds. This may lead to amazing ideas no Smurf could have thought of otherwise, but it can also make him quite a nuisance during daily chores around the village.
Relationship with Moxette Smurfette
Dreamy first meets Moxette in "Peewit's Smurfy Creation."
- Season 1 -- The two share a love of dreaming about things that most Smurfs might never imagine, but otherwise, he and Moxette are just acquaintances in passing. At times, he may confide in her one of his ideas. Sometimes they will work together on daily tasks around the village, but he finds that she is more likely to keep her thoughts to herself if she is set on her work.

Appearance
Normally, Dreamy wears the traditional white Smurf hat and trousers, but he can be identified by his body language: a half-lidded gaze off into the distance, head tilted slightly, and he sometimes taps a finger against his chin or folds one arm under the other with his chin head in thought.
- Alternatives -- If he is assuming the role of Captain Dreamy, he wears a sailor's hat that looks much like the one worn by Marco Smurf. However, if he is assuming the role of Astro Smurf, he wears a white spacesuit and glass helmet.
