Gargoyles are winged creatures that are reptilian in appearance and can pass off as a statue. The Smurfs in the past have faced gargoyles that were henchmen of the treasure hunting imp, Avarice. The Smurfs also took care of a baby gargoyle named Tharp, who belonged to the sorcerer Selwyn and sorceress Tallulah. Glovey Smurf and the Smurfs face the same gargoyles that return to wage war against the Smurfs, but ultimately fail and are forced to leave the forest with the imp.
