Gentile is an original animal character in The Smurfs: Light and Dark.
Background Information
As her name implies, Gentile is a mellow, generally obedient, and graceful mare who was born and raised in the Cye Kingdom as a breeding steed for the Royal Court's stables.
Relationship with Falla Cye
She is Falla's assigned steed since birth and has always presented a docile nature compared to her headstrong human. She is loyal, loving, modest, and tentatively curious when meeting strangers compared to Falla who often puts up walls to newcomers. Gentile, in essence, is often more ladylike than her owner.
Appearance
Gentile is a European horse breed with a shiny bay pinto color scheme consisting of a darkly tanned coat, long black mane and tail, white socks drawing attention to her cream hooves, and golden brown eyes. She stands about 14.2 hands high (58" or 147 centimeters) with a leanly muscular form, elongated neck, and slim features.
Voice Actor(s)
Frank Welker is most likely the person who created the various sounds that horses make throughout the cartoon show, so he is desired for this role.
Trivia
- "Gentile" is the French word for "nice" and was chosen by Falla as an opposing description of her younger brother before she left home.
- While sometimes referred to as a stallion by her rider (a masculine horse term), Gentile is actually an evenly mixed European mare: Akhal-Teke (50%) and Thoroughbred (50%).
- Her original color scheme was going to be dark grey with black socks and blonde hair.
