A gingerbread cookie is a type of cookie made from gingerbread that is normally shaped in the form of a man (or a woman) and eaten around Christmas.
Mainstream Smurfs Media[]
In the cartoon show episode "The Gingerbread Smurfs," Brainy (with some help from Clumsy) had made a gingerbread Smurf cookie using one of Papa Smurf's magic books, which resulted in the cookie coming to life and multiplying, causing problems with their fellow Smurfs to the point where they were thrown out of their own houses. Papa Smurf returned in time to deal with the problem of the multiplying gingerbread Smurf cookies by having Brainy cast a counter-spell that made all the cookies go back into the oven and come out as one cookie. However, when Brainy tried to have Papa Smurf taste the cookie as part of the bake-off contest between himself and Greedy, he was thrown out of the village along with his cookie.
In the animated feature The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol, Chef Smurf is in charge of making "gingersmurf cookies" for Christmas. However, according to the Smurf of Christmas Present, because Grouchy refused to participate in putting the star on top of the Christmas tree, Chef Smurf had to be the one to bring out the ornaments, including the star.

LD Stories[]
As noted from "The Gingerbread Smurfs" episode, Brainy prefers his gingerbread cookies to have some spice, so he likes to add volcanic lava juice to a personal batch. In Crestfallen Christmas, Moxette and Greedy create the first official batch of "ginger snap" cookies, which was inspired by Brainy for several reasons:
- The small size reflects how little most Smurfs think of Brainy (at that time, hopefully)
- The name: "Ginger" meaning red, which reflects Brainy's natural hair color, and "Snap" being based on his "snappy" personality, which can be too hot for some Smurfs to handle (sometimes literally!)
- Moxette also likes a bit more spice in her cookie, but didn't want to admit it directly to Brainy
