Smurfs Fanon Wiki

This page features the various inventions and other important contributions that Handy Smurf has made to the Smurf Village during The Smurfs: Light and Dark. They are listed in alphabetical order.

  • Clockwork Smurf -- Initially, this was just a toy Smurf who could help other Smurfs more effectively around the village in his place. After Brainy ruined his internal gears, Clockwork went berserk and nearly led Handy to consider destroying the doll. However, after learning that Clockwork had become self-aware and helped restore Prince Gerard to his throne, Handy gladly considered him a real Smurf and his invention's "father." Clockwork is therefore considered his greatest creation.
  • Clockwork Smurfette -- While only intended to serve as Clockwork's partner, Handy has grown fond of this invention and even adopted the name "Clockette" after Moxette coined the term.
  • Heat-O-Matic 2.0 -- The original Heat-O-Matic was a large central heating invention that sat in the Village Square providing heat to every Smurf's home during the peak of Winter, but it was filled with problems during its initial usage. Although Handy was able to iron out the kinks and saved his frozen friends after Gargamel and Scruple had attacked the village, the Heat-O-Matic was dismantled for parts. Handy later drafted new plans in Spring for Version 2.0, which became personalized heating devices for each Smurf to have in their homes. This way, every Smurf could maintain the temperature of their desire and not need to rely on the centralized system from Version 1.0. Handy has included instructions for maintaining these smaller Heat-O-Matic machines to each Smurf, leaving him with only needing to make more serious repairs if necessary.
  • Handheld Power Drill -- An invention to help Handy with speeding up the building process. It took some trial and error to find the ideal power source and handheld settings for this drill to work as desired, but Handy can be seen using it to drill holes through materials, tighten or loosen screws, or cast whizzing electrical sparks onto rocks to either ward off enemies or create fire. He does not use it for the latter purpose unless it is absolutely necessary because doing so will increase the risk of the power drill breaking.
  • Rail Smurfer 1.0 -- An invention much like the 20th Century steam-powered train, which Handy used to help the Smurfs transport heavy quantities of supplies in and out of the village. It was quickly used to travel around the forest as well, but this yielded consequences in the form of Gargamel who, upon seeing the tiny railroad tracks, detoured the train car to lead straight to his hovel. Handy never rebuilt this train after it (and the tracks) were abandoned, but he did use the blueprints to create a toy version for Baby Smurf.
  • Rail Smurfer 2.0 -- Pending...
  • Rose-Colored Glasses -- A pair of glasses made with pink-tinted lenses that were enhanced by the touch of a rainbow were fashioned as a gift for Smurfette while Handy was still in love with her. He had hoped that she would see how smurfy he is when she looked at him through these glasses, but she wound up in the hands of Gargamel (and subsequently loved what she saw of him) before she could see Handy. The glasses were taken by Bigmouth the Ogre and used to chase off Gargamel by the time she was saved, so Handy never made a second pair.
  • Smurfmarine -- An invention that is equivalent to a 20th Century submarine that is designed to resemble a large fish. The initial version could withstand reaching depths of over 100 meters (330~ feet), but later smurfmarine designs could withstand pressure reaching a depth of up to 200 meters (650~ feet) when Handy switched to new metal alloy types with help from Miner. While it is rare to see Handy use this machine, he keeps it safely hidden somewhere near the River Smurf.
  • Smurf-O-Matic Food Maker -- A machine that was invented while Greedy was on strike to create "food cubes" that would be nourishing, but not very flavorful despite the ingredients added to the processer. While this machine was successful and did what it was meant to do, the Smurfs quickly realized that they needed Greedy to prepare a variety of dishes and flavors to keep their pallets diverse. It is assumed that this machine is in storage somewhere, ready to start back up should it be needed during an emergency.
  • Smurf-O-Matic Laundromat -- A laundry machine that takes the time-consuming struggle out of washing every Smurf's clothing. While useful on a daily basis, repairs are often needed to keep it functioning properly.
  • Smurf-O-Matic Printing Press -- An automatic printing press designed for Reporter Smurf to print the Smurf Village Newspaper. In "Smurfs in the City," Handy learns that this device someday leads to the inspiration for the human German inventor, Johannes Gutenberg, to create the modernized printing press through the man's descendent, Nathan Foxtrot II while the time-travelling group of Smurfs are brought into the mid-1980's thanks to the Time Crystals. Reporter continues to use it to this day. Brainy briefly had his own printing press, but the two found that they enjoyed sharing one instead -- for better or worse.
  • Smurf-O-Matic Smurfberry Picker -- This invention helps pick Smurfberries at a faster rate than five Smurfs, making this an exceptionally helpful device on a regular basis.
  • Smurferator -- An invention that was designed to allow merfolk, such as King Aquarius and Marina, to breathe and travel safely on dry land. It filters water through an automated pipe system, which keeps the oxygen levels from stagnating, but Handy mostly keeps these in storage because of how rare it is for a mermaid to need out-of-water transportation.
  • Smurf Village Imaginarium -- After hearing Camouflage's idea about experiencing alternate timelines, he co-creates the design and oversees the construction of this invention with help from Papa, Grandpa, and Cameo. Since its debut, this project has proven to be one of the most heavy-trafficking and popular amongst every Smurf.
  • Smurfmobile -- Intended to be an easier way to get around the village, especially if transporting more than several items at once, this invention quickly lead to conflict amongst every Smurf. Therefore, he had to dismantle the smurfmobiles, but has kept the plans in case they serve any use in the future.
  • Smurf Wagon -- Similar to the smurfmobile, Handy intended this contraption to be the luxurious means of transportation. In it was enough room to house about five to ten Smurfs and some of their belongings. Unfortunately, the handling was shaky, resulting in almost no comfort for the passengers, so it was retired and dismantled for spare parts after its maiden journey. Handy has kept the blueprints for future use if needed.
  • Snow Rover -- A semi-automatic snow plow machine that quickly clears pathways in and around the Smurf Village during Winter. Some Smurfs still prefer to shovel snow, but this device is viewed more so as a means of helping do the job rather than outright replacing the need for shoveling, so it is considered one of Handy's most beneficial seasonal inventions.
  • Stitch-O-Mat -- An automated sewing machine designed to lighten the load for Tailor Smurf so that Tailor could take a break from the constant demand of every Smurf and their clothing needs. It unintentionally replaced Tailor before every Smurf realized that the machine could work faster than Tailor, but it could not mend or create clothes as durable and comfortable as the Smurf. The machine was subsequently dismantled for spare parts.
  • Wheelsmurfer -- A mobile chair created to help injured Smurfs get around as they heal, first used for Hefty after injuring his leg. Doctor Smurf keeps one in his house, and several others are available in the Smurf Village Infirmary and the Hospitality Complex.
  • Window Vision -- An invention similar to the 20th-Century television that utilizes a special type of clear crystal that are cut to have one flat face and fit into a wooden box frame. With the transmitter crystal being the "heart" of this invention, every Smurf had an opportunity to present their showcased talents or televised ideas ranging from Smurfette's Fashion Forecast, Farmer's Crops Report, Clumsy's Rock Report, and more. While this invention was revolutionary for its time and offered many benefits for easily communicating information on a widescale range through the forest (given how the crystal could transmit beyond the Smurf Village boundaries), the Smurfs were nearly doomed by spending too much time watching or starring on Window Vision. The transmitter crystal was unfortunately destroyed during their escape from Gargamel's hovel, but Handy believes that someday the Smurfs will be ready to try Window Vision again -- and next time, they will use it more responsibly. When that may happen is yet to be decided, though.
