King Gordon is a character from the original cartoon show. His Wiki page is located here. He also exists in The Smurfs: Light and Dark.
Background Information
Based on his single appearance, he is a proud and strong headed ruler with an kingdom abundant in gold and silver. During his son's childhood, he was a husky, but fit individual, but began putting on weight after the queen's death; while his food intake increased, Pyro's diet decreased, and he became more self-interested than ever before.
Relationship with Prince Pyro
Before losing his beloved queen, he and Prince Pyro were frequently engaging in outdoor activities (like fishing, hiking, etc.) and had a good father-son bond. After she died, he began to "eat his feelings" and lost sight of everything else around him - including his only son. Their contrasting reactions to her death is what drove them apart.
Smurfy Intervention
At one point, Greedy Smurf was brought to them with promising cooking skills, which his father liked. He flattered the runaway Smurf's skills and seemingly gave him the appreciation he had not been receiving from his fellow Smurfs, thus convincing him to work for him as the "Master Chef." However, he fell back to his self-interested habits in no time, which initiated Greedy and Pyro's friendship. His majesty had no intentions of freeing him or the other previous chefs in the dungeons because of his greed -- and it prevented him from realizing what consequences he was facing.
After some struggle (and advice from Papa Smurf when he arrived looking for Greedy), the king chose his son. From then on, their relationship has gradually strengthened and he has the Smurfs to thank for it.
Appearance
King Gordon has yellow-green tinted skin, red-orange hair cut above his pointed ears, standard black eyes, and a long up-curled black mustache. He has noticeably slimmed down since his mainstream media debut, but his body shape remains on the heavier side. He continues to wear his purple and white fur-trimmed coat over a soft lavender shirt and pants outside with a waist-belt adorned with a large gold clasp. His neckerchief has also been converted into a gold-clasped cravat.
Voice Actor(s)
His original voice actor is unknown. A modern choice would be Jim Cummings, who has voiced Pete in A Goofy Movie (1995) and its sequel An Extremely Goofy Movie (2000), Cortez the Conqueror in The Road to El Dorado (2001), Ray the Firefly in The Princess and the Frog (2009), and many more.
