"King Of The Smurfs" is a story that is part of the HERO: The Guardian Smurf story series. It is an adaptation of the cartoon show episode "King Smurf", using elements from the original comic book story interpretation, with Brainy retelling the story of how he became King Smurf to his son Smarty.

- Hawkeye takes Clumsy's role as the Smurf calling out about the wall being built around the village in order to keep the rebels out.
- The idea of Brainy offering Smurfette the position of queen is inspired by the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story "The Once and Smurfy King" where Anonymous asks Smurfette to become his queen.
- The Smurflings and Peewit, who don't appear in either version of the story, briefly appear at the end.
- Fergus' confrontation with Brainy at the wall mirrors that of the confrontation Billy Connolly's character, Dain Ironfoot, had with Gandalf and Thranduil in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
- Fergus' confrontation with Hefty and his group of Smurfs is identical to Dain Ironfoot's battle with the Orcs during the Battle of Erebor in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
