The Mirror Of Opposition is a magical item that appears in the HERO: The Guardian Smurf story series.
Basic Information[]
It was responsible for the creation of Hero's female partner and future wife Wonder Smurfette. In the story series, it is known that the Mirror is nothing more than an item that is used for recreational purposes only, for it allows whoever looks into it to see what they will look like if they were of the opposite gender.
Many years after Hero and Wonder's wedding, Hero's fellow Smurfs used the mirror to have female counterparts for themselves and soon became parent Smurfs.
It is revealed in the story "The Mirror Universe," that there is an alternate universe located in the mirror itself, ruled by a corrupt ruler called the "Mirror Master," who abuses his authority to get whatever he wants and that he also has many offspring from the many different mates he has reproduced with. He also has his own army simply known as "Mirror Knights". It is also revealed in the story that the Smurfettes have a connection to the mirror as they were once part of it, and upon their escape from it, the mirror is destroyed thus breaking the connection, but at the price of all of them falling into a severe coma due to a curse being cast upon them by the Mirror Master..
It was revealed in the mini-story "Wonder's Passing " that any creature that comes into existence through the mirror has a shorter lifespan of the creature it is the opposite of, though that doesn't actually happen to the other Smurfettes when the mirror is shattered in the soon-to-be-published story "The Mirror Universe", thus breaking their ties to it. They eventually become true blue Smurfs afterwards.
