Paarthurnax (called The Old One) is a dragon character that appears in the HERO: The Guardian Smurf story series.
Background Information
He lived in a time long before the Smurfs, where he and Alduin had ferocious battles with each other in order to determine who was the strongest between them.
The reason why their battles were so ferocious was because they nearly caused total destruction to the world; when he realized that Alduin had a false sense of godhood, this made him more determined to rid the world of him.
His last encounter with Alduin was 1000 years prior to the time of the Smurfs, where he was easily defeated, and he fell into a frozen sea and was soon encased in a block of ice.
He was discovered many years later by Papa Smurf who was looking for ingredients for an experiment. He quickly befriended him because Papa managed to bring his strength back through the use of a special potion. He was grateful to Papa for helping him recover.
He currently lives at the summit of the mountain of mists, meditating the Words of Power.
Personality
He is old and wise; he is also willing to answer anything the Smurfs ask him, but he does get easily annoyed if he is asked non-serious questions. When he finds out that Alduin is in the same time period, he becomes determined to finally be rid of him, when he trains Hero to use the Words of Power.

- Papa Smurf -- His close friend, as he discovered him and helped him recover his strength.

Appearance
Paarthurnax is a dragon that shows clear signs of great age, including tattered skin on his wings and tail, broken and chipped horns and chin-spikes, dulled color of his skin and eyes and several teeth missing.
