Patchwork fic is a form of fanfiction where characters and story elements from many different interpretations of the same story franchise are melded together in one universe, or where characters and story elements from a different interpretation of a franchise are merged into a fanfiction writer's particularly chosen interpretation. In Transformers fanon, this can be referred to as personal canon or headcanon, where various parts of different interpretations of the same franchise are chosen and melded together.

The EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series is an example of a patchwork fic, where characters from the Smurfs comic books, the 1980s Smurfs cartoon show, the Sony Pictures live-action Smurfs films, Smurfs: The Lost Village, and the Smurfs PVC toy line are merged together into one universe, mostly based on the cartoon show interpretation with story elements from the others.
Hero: The Guardian Smurf stories[]
The HERO: The Guardian Smurf story series is a patchwork fic that combines story elements from the Smurfs comic books, the 1980s Smurfs cartoon show, the Sony Pictures live-action Smurfs films, and Smurfs: The Lost Village into one universe.
LD Stories[]
The Smurfs: Light and Dark is a patchwork fic that is mostly based on the 1980s cartoon show interpretation, but will feature elements from the comic books as well. Primary elements surrounding the main human cast stems from the Johan & Peewit comics, such as the usage of Count Tremaine, who was Johan's role model in his early development, but never appeared in the cartoon show. Likewise, locations such as Boarsford are brought into use, having been negated from the cartoon adaptation of the comic story, "The Black Arrow."
Alternatively, some character usage or development stems off of the cartoon series rather than the comics, such as Justin being the adopted son of Homnibus whereas, in the comics, he had a servant named Oliver. Likewise, Scruple never appeared in any original comic story, but has become a main character because of his role in the cartoon series.
Hauvon Expanded Universe[]
Hauvon Expanded Universe is a patchwork fic that began life based on the 1980s cartoon show interpretation, but which integrated elements from the comic books and 1976 movie, especially as the series progresses. The elements taken from the cartoon show are mainly drawn from the first three seasons, as this is the window of time during which most of the human characters of HEU make their appearances. It's also the personal preference of the author to focus on seasons 1-3.
The Smurfs: Two Sides[]
The Smurfs: Two Sides is a patchwork fic combining the 1980s cartoon show, Smurfs: The Lost Village, and the Girls' Village Comics, with some aspects from other adaptions of Smurfs media.
