"It's hard to be so perfect in a world of imperfection."

Periwinkle is a character who is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series. She is a pixie princess who is very beautiful yet very vain, and who came across the equally handsome yet very vain Vanity Smurf while looking into her magic mirror one morning. She originally sought to destroy Vanity, but after seeing how he sympathized with her living in a world of imperfection, the two of them became close friends, yet never becoming lovers as the both of them are already involved with someone else -- themselves.

In the EMPATH stories, Periwinkle gave Vanity an all-natural "pheromone cologne" that he hoped to try out on himself, but after a talk with Empath, he gave it to Papa Smurf instead with the hope of it never being used. Unfortunately, Papa Smurf tried some of the cologne on himself, and the fumes mixed with the chemicals in his laboratory altered the cologne into a mutagenic cloud that transformed Papa Smurf into a muscular love-crazed giant who was after Smurfette.

Her actual involvement in a story is when she had Vanity Smurf as a visitor in her kingdom, who spent a great deal of time with her, but unknown to her was introduced to a recreational version of pixie dust by Scullcap and became addicted to it, almost to the point of death. When Empath and Papa Smurf visited her and her father King Goldenrod to find out who was giving Vanity pixie dust as a drug, Periwinkle worked with Empath to discover that Scullcap was creating a drug ring right inside the kingdom and that he was responsible for Vanity's addiction and having him framed as a criminal for the alleged theft of pixie dust. Although she was caught by Scullcap and framed as a criminal who was conspiring with Empath and Papa Smurf to steal more pixie dust, she was vindicated when Polaris Psyche brought evidence that Scullcap was conspiring with a troll named Wild Dagga to sell the recreational variant of pixie dust for a profit.

Years later, she would appear as a guest for Smurfette at Empath and Smurfette's wedding.
