"Poor Unfortunate Fools" is the 11th episode of Season 3 in The Smurfs: Light and Dark. It is set to run between 8 - 10 minutes in length. It is also the fifty-first episode of the overall series.
Synopsis
While running an errand for King Gerard, Peewit and Falla run into Scruple as he is nearing the Smurf Village. After they chase him away, he drops a scroll that Peewit collects and takes back to the castle. He discovers a rejuvenation spell on the parchment and decides to try it out of sheer curiosity, but he cannot pull apart the cloth he creates. He finds Squire Josten and asks him to pull one end while he holds the other, but both are shocked when they realize that they have switched ages. They agree to ask Falla for help, but the suddenly-sixteen Peewit is overcome with a strange new feeling upon seeing her, which makes him act funnier than usual.
Will the boys manage to switch back to their respective ages before they do any real damage?

Trivia
- The original plot of this episode was summarized with the first concept sketch in one of the author's sketchbooks on October 8th, 2011, featuring Joan and Peewit as the ones who switched ages. On June 25th, 2014, Johan was replaced by Josten to allow the latter more development.
- The original title of this episode, "The Princess and the Peewit," was based on the original story of "The Princess and the Pea," but the story itself provides no basis to the storyline. Therefore, the title was officially changed on April 5th, 2021, approximately five years after its conception following two separate author hiatuses. The new title is a parody of the song, "Poor Unfortunate Souls," from the award-winning Disney animated film, The Little Mermaid.
