"No means no, as in N-SMURFING-O!"

Sebastian "Pushback" Smurf (sometimes just called Pushy) is a Smurf character who is part of the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series.

History

He was formerly called Pushover, who like his cartoon show counterpart in the story "The Smurf Who Couldn't Say No" is (or rather was) a Smurf who had trouble saying no to his fellow Smurfs whenever they asked him to do something they feel they either couldn't do themselves or would rather not do themselves. During the Firefly Festival, though, when Scaredy Smurf had Pushover get the Foxfire from the marsh and accidentally awakened the Marsh Monster by extinguishing its flame, Pushover eventually overcame his intimidation and learned not to be afraid to say no at times. However, this can go overboard at times, as Pushback can refuse to do something that is vital and tends to lash back at those forcing him to do those things. Nevertheless, no Smurf should dare try to pawn off their duties onto Pushback or else they may end up suffering the consequences! Hefty Smurf usually holds Pushback in high admiration for his sticking up for himself, as also does Empath.

Relationships

  • Empath is considered one of his closest friends.
  • Tapper is another close friend, who encouraged him as Pushover to stand up for himself and not be afraid to say No.
  • Duncan McSmurf is a third close friend, who also encouraged him as Pushover to stand up for himself and not be afraid to say No.
  • Smurfette is a close friend, although she was originally taken aback when Pushover started to assert himself in saying No.
  • Brainy was one of the Smurfs who tried to get Pushover to do things he should normally be doing himself, in order to get himself out of doing important jobs. After Pushover's change to Pushback, though, Brainy refuses to even dare ask him to do a favor.
  • Hefty was also a Smurf who tried to get Pushover to do things he should normally be doing himself, but after Pushover's change, Hefty refuses to even dare ask him to do a favor. He is one of the few Smurfs that actually admire Pushback for standing up for himself.

Desired Voice Actor

His desired voice actor is Crispin Glover, who played the character of George McFly in the first Back To The Future movie.
