Steven "Shinny" Quartz Smurf (known mostly as Shinny) is a Smurf character who is solely part of MTRoberts124ki's series of SHINNY: The Crystal Smurf fanfiction stories, starring as the main character. He is a Smurf born with a rose quartz gemstone on his navel part and with his mother's gem powers that include healing, bubbling, shield summoning, and empathic telepathy. He also had the ability to float in the air.
Background Information[]
According to the story series, Shinny is born as the only son of Papa Smurf (referred to in those earlier times as Michel, named after his late voice actor, Michel Elias, from the 1976 film The Smurfs and the Magic Flute) and his wife Rose Quartz, the only known hybrid of a Smurf and a Gem and the first Crystal Gem of Smurf descent. As a result of his parentage, Shinny is an extraordinarily unique being with innate powers beyond that of normal Smurfs and Gems.
He was given the name "Shinny" by Papa Smurf because of how his gemstone was shinning bright when it responds to his emotions as a baby. He didn't use his gem powers until when he was a Smurfling, around 49 years of age, he unintenually summoned his shield when he was saving his fellow Smurfs from falling from a tree one day when they were playing hide-and-seek, thus surprises him.
But unfortunately, Shinny was having a hard time trying to control his gem powers, which starts to worry Papa Smurf. To make matters worse during his 50th birthday, when Jokey mocked him for being different than the others after "surprising" him, Shinny's destructive gem ability responds to him when he lost his temper, which almost killed Jokey and destroyed half the village. Fearing for the safety of the other Smurfs (as well as Shinny's), Papa Smurf had no choice but to exile him from the village for his own good, and he will not be allowed to return until he learns to control his powers.
The Gems had managed to remove Shinny's memories of his powers in order for him to use them in a correct way, but unfortunately at the time, it also costed Shinny the memories of the Smurfs as well, much to Papa Smurf's dismay. This results in Papa Smurf to suffer depression of losing his child and failing to keep his deceased wife's promise of taking care of him.
During Shinny's 150 years of exile, he has been able to master some of his abilities, which is bubbling, shape-shifting, floating, and shield summoning. It wasn't until Shinny's 200th birthday when the Gems have finally decided to tell him the truth about his Smurf origins and that it's time to send him back home to the Smurf Village.
