Smurfs Fanon Wiki

Handy is a Smurf character and one of the major protagonists of the Butterverse. He is a combination of the original tv series counterpart and Vanity Smurf's living reflection character.

History[]

Somebody Smurf is unique to the village, as he was not one of the original Smurfs brought up by Papa. Instead, Somebody originally existed as a reflection of Vanity Smurf, and was brought out of a silver mirror when a lightning strike hit it. When he was released from the mirror’s magic due to a second lightning strike, he eventually became known as ‘Nobody’ Smurf, on account of the fact he had never developed an individual personality, being a clone of Vanity. As a living reflection, he possessed an unusual ability to hide in the background, sometimes even unnoticed by his own peers. Following the defeat of the goblin Mystico, ‘Somebody’ assigned himself a new name, and a new purpose. He currently resides in the village.

Personality[]

Somebody is a reclusive Smurf with low self-esteem, although he’s not as stand-offish as he first appears. In actual fact, Somebody is simply struggling to find his place in Smurf village, and is wary of others simply lumping him alongside his ‘brother’. Everything from his likes and dislikes is identical to those of Vanity, which is a fact he hates. Unlike Vanity, however, Somebody is not obsessed with his appearance (at least not in a positive way) and tends to be much more hardworking. Once you’ve broken through his serious shell a bit, there’s a much friendlier character underneath, who’s deeply loyal to all of his friends and cares about the way others perceive him.

Appearance[]

Somebody’s true appearance is identical to that of Vanity Smurf, perhaps with a little more muscle after some years. He’s average height, has a slightly curvaceous body shape, and flawless skin with slightly rosy cheeks. However, Somebody detests his true appearance, and is rarely seen without his full suit, which covers his torso. He also wears an earpiece in his left ear, and a pair of dark shades that sit on his face. He does not wear a flower in his hat.

Unlike his original TV series counterpart, Somebody speaks with an English accent similar to John Oliver’s Vanity.

Role In The Village[]

Somebody Smurf is the village ‘secret agent’ of sorts. Due to his uncanny ability to hide in plain sight (assumed to have something to do with him being a living reflection) He’s often assigned stake out missions that would otherwise be dangerous for the other Smurfs. These include scouting out the local villains such as Gargamel or checking the immediate forest surroundings for threats.

Relationships[]

Vanity Smurf[]

Somebody has a slightly strained relationship with Vanity at times. After gaining true sentience, his ‘brother’ was determined to form a close bond with him, but Somebody wasn’t keep to reciprocate. Rather, he initially despised Vanity for having accidentally brought him into the world to be little more than ‘the other Vanity’ to his peers, and often resented the fact he was unable to make his own discoveries about certain likes and dislikes (sharing the same favourite smells, hates foods etc)

Over time however, Somebody began to open up to the idea of more of a relationship with his original, and eventually allowed himself to become closer to Vanity, even finally allowing the use of the word ‘brother’ between them where he’d originally shunned it. The two have a decent relationship now, and Somebody has let go of many of his past grudges towards him, knowing it wasn’t truly Vanity’s fault.

Don Smurfo[]

Don Smurfo is Somebody’s life partner and best friend.

Somebody wasn’t too bothered about the hero when he emerged from his books, as he liked to keep to himself and much of Don’s personality reminded him of Vanity, who at the time Somebody was avoiding. After Don coerced him into joining him on a mission up Mount Smurf (that is, Somebody was more or less begged to go) he began to find the other’s antics somewhat childish and an endangerment to the mission at hand, which Somebody wanted to complete quickly in order to return to his ‘true’ missions as he thought of them. After finally returning home and having Don follow him around the village messing up his other work, Somebody eventually snapped and told him to leave him alone. Shortly after his outburst, Somebody began to feel a pang of guilt over the situation and went to go and apologise, managing to intercept the returning process Don had requested from Papa.

Somebody agreed to give Don a second chance out of the fact Don is one of the few Smurfs that had ever treated him as something more than just ‘Vanity 2.0’, even though Don was unaware of his origins at the time, Somebody still respected it. Over the course of their relationship, Somebody would open up about his deep rooted insecurities and begin to read the Don Smurfo books, discovering the history and origins of his partner. Over time, Somebody gained a lot of self-confidence from Don’s encouragement, patched up his relationship with Vanity, and became a much happier Smurf all around.

The two have been known to get into spats occasionally, usually over Somebody’s concern for Don’s pasta and drinking habits and occasional childish behaviour, however these are resolved fairly easily and Somebody wouldn’t really have him any other way regardless.

Quixotic Smurf[]

Somebody has always had strong paternal instincts. Unfortunately, these were not able to be realised by the couple as Don was a fictional character with no true DNA profile, and Somebody was a clone of Vanity, meaning his own DNA would simply BE Vanity’s, and not his own. They were still able to raise a child, however, when Somebody caught wind of an orphaned Smurfling from the Grove, and pleaded his case to SmurfWillow to allow them to look after her.

Somebody is a slightly protective father, fearing any harm that may come to his daughter, but isn’t without reason. He does believe she should be able to handle herself, and as such has taken her on as one of his agent students, often having her help him out on missions.

Elusory Smurf[]

Elusory Smurf is one of Somebody’s students, as she, like him, possesses a strange ability to blend into the background in crowds, but Elusory’s seems to be more of a natural ability than caused by other factors. Somebody is a mentor and uncle like figure to her, and does his best to keep her safe, since her job is somewhat of a secret even from her own parents.

Elena[]

The two originally butted heads during an argument when Elena believed Don Smurfo was cheating on her with him. Somebody soon realised she was simply frightened of her new, unfamiliar surroundings and free will, and actually opened up to her about his own experience as a reflection, making this the shortest reveal time to any new face. The two are now friends.

Bella[]

Bella is Somebody’s pet pine marten, and his main mode of transportation out in the forest. She normally lives just outside of the village rather than in it, but can be called to her master quickly. He cares about her deeply, and never tries to put her in precarious situations if he can help it.

Moira The Will-O-The-Wisp[]

Moira is the bane of Somebody’s career at times. Due to her fascination with Don’s golden eagle for her magical creature market, Somebody is always on the lookout for her antics and trying to keep her contained somewhere – which never lasts for long due to her powerful magic and wisp form. He’s also not totally unaware of her somewhat suspicious affiliation with his adoptive daughter, which makes him all the more determined to keep her out of the village.
