Smurfs Fanon Wiki

Swimming is a recreational activity that humans and Smurfs engage in during warmer seasons.

Mainstream Smurfs Media[]

In mainstream Smurfs media, the Smurfs would normally be found by the riverside enjoying a day of swimming. However, in "Handy's Sweetheart," Brainy admits that he does not know how to swim, and in other episodes, he is never shown in deep water.

Empath: The Luckiest Smurf stories[]

Swimmer

In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, the Smurfs can enjoy swimming all year round with the Imaginarium providing them various types of beach fantasy settings. On occasion, Smurfs have attempted to do skinny-dipping, though rarely if ever with Smurfette around since she prefers not to fully expose herself. However, more often than not, Nudie would play tricks on his fellow Smurfs by taking their clothes away and watching them return to the village while trying to maintain their dignity.

Swimmer, who is an expert swimmer and lifeguard, likes challenging his fellow Smurfs to swimming races every now and then.

Grouchy was originally afraid of swimming until Empath helped him to overcome his fears of the water. Swimmer taught him the basics of swimming, but it took having to rescue Empath from drowning for Grouchy to swim without fear of drowning.

As with his cartoon show counterpart, Brainy completely lacks any swimming skills and thus requires other Smurfs to get him to safety whenever he is out in the ocean.

In winter, there's an annual Polar Bear Club swim where Smurfs would risk swimming in the cold water of the river. Nudie and Swimmer are the only ones who are able to brave swimming in the winter. Later on, Wild Smurf was shown to be swimming in cold winter waters without suffering from hypothermia.

LD Stories/Expanded AU[]

Swimming is a recreation normally engaged in by various species.

Humans[]

While Johan and Peewit are strong, agile swimmers, Peewit is far more likely to do so as means of entertainment. He and Falla typically enjoy swimming together in the river, or with the Smurfs if possible.

King Gerard and Princess Savina enjoy swimming, but it is rare for them to have the opportunity to do so. Much to Falla and Clockwork's surprise, Sir Josten is a poor swimmer, so he is hesitant to venture into deep water.

Smurfs[]

As established in mainstream media, Brainy Smurf cannot swim, and so he never enters water farther than standing depth. Moxette, however, is a strong swimmer and loves grabbing her fellow Smurfs' legs to scare them, but she would never pull them underwater.

Smurfs: The Thomas & Friends Series[]

In the first and second story of the series, swimming is Grouchy's favorite activity.
