Tracker Smurf is a Smurf character, and a main protagonist of the Butterverse.
History[]
Tracker Smurf is one of the adult Smurfs of the current generation. He resides in the village but is often away from it, occasionally for a couple of days when collecting. He has an advanced sense of smell for a Smurf, able to locate things hidden from sight or underground.
Tracker once contracted a rare disease from a strange plant in the forest, which left him bed-bound and getting worse. Papa Smurf was able to identify the plant as a 'sleeping death', but the cure for the disease was found in spices not native to the forest as the plant itself was also an invasive species, presumably brought by humans or a migrating bird. Marco Smurf was sent out to collect the cure whilst the others tried to help Tracker in other ways despite him being on the verge of dying a couple of times - luckily Marco returned in the nick of time with the cure, and Tracker was able to slowly recover.
Personality[]
Tracker is a passionate and enthusiastic individual with a love for the great outdoors. At times he can be seen as a little eccentric by his peers, who aren’t always as quick to trust him or follow his advice. Tracker rarely seems to notice this. He does have a little bit of a dark sense of humour at times, as well as a strong moral compass that can occasionally cloud his judgement of character, but he’s known for being a skilled and honest down to earth sort of guy.
Appearance[]
Tracker is of average height and in good physical condition. He wears standard white leggings and a white cap with a red feather pinned into the left side. Occasionally, he can be seen with a walking stick to aid his hiking. Tracker speaks with an English RP accent.
Role In The Village[]
Tracker is the village’s WoodsSmurf, and collector of many herbs and spices that the village need that may be hard to locate. During truffle season, Tracker is the designated truffle hunter.
Relationships[]
Papa Smurf[]
Tracker admires Papa’s leadership skills, and is often the one responsible for fetching him ingredients for his experiments, especially when specific ingredients are hard to collect.
Hunter Smurf[]
Hunter Smurf is Tracker’s cousin (they discovered through old records that their two fathers from the previous generation were brothers) and the two have a fairly good relationship. Since a lot of both of their work overlaps out in the forest, they will often work together to complete tasks.
Dreamy Smurf[]
Dreamy Smurf is Tracker’s life partner and best friend. The two originally became friends during a truffle hunting season one year. In order to maximise their supply, Tracker had been working with a small group of Smurfs, often splitting into pairs to help out with locating and carrying stocks. In order to keep the daydreamer from dilly-dallying, Tracker had partnered himself with Dreamy. During this time, the two became close friends as Dreamy enjoyed Tracker’s company and Tracker was happy to listen to him talk about the adventures he’d had or was planning on having soon. Tracker had some slightly affectionate feelings at the time, but chose not to act on them. Following the shenanigans with a fickle flower that combined him and Marco Smurf into one person, Tracker accepted Dreamy’s invitation to go out with him.
The two have a very close bond, and are more or less still best friends throughout their entire relationship, which has probably saved Tracker from a couple of awkward moments otherwise, such as when Dreamy asked to have a Smurfling on their second date. Tracker’s always been bemused by his partner’s antics, and finds them all the more endearing. When Dreamy stayed by his side throughout the entirety of the sleeping death ordeal, Tracker was pleased that he was the first thing he saw when he could eventually open his eyes again.
Rover Smurf[]
Rover Smurf is Tracker’s son, and very attached to Tracker. During the sleeping death incident, Rover was somewhat quarantined away from his father to keep him safe, and this lead to slight attachment issues in his early childhood. He would loathe being away from Tracker for too long, and always insisted on following him into the forest just so he could be near. Over the years, Rovers anxiety calmed down, but he managed to maintain the strong bond, and genuinely considers Tracker as one of his main sources of comfort. Rover also shares the inherited advanced scent trait, which is especially useful to Tracker when he needs extra helping hands to let him locate hidden herbs and food.
Nova Sweef[]
Tracker becomes one of Nova's adopted parents following the death of their biological parents. He had a little difficulty raising them due to not knowing much about the species, but did have Dreamy on his side to help. He also had to split time between Rover, who had a bit of a clingy attachment style to him as a child. As they are now, Tracker and Nova have a very good relationship, and make a great team with Rover during truffle hunting season, due to the Smurf's heighted smell and Nova's location abilities.
Britt Sweef[]
They aren't as close as Dreamy and Britt are, but Tracker and Britt have also become rather good friends during his visits to Earth, and more so from Tracker raising Nova.
Wooly Smurf[]
Tracker and Wooly dated for only a couple of months as teenagers, before the relationship fizzled out due to Wooly’s lack of interest in romance. They remain friends regardless.
Trivia[]
- Tracker is able to mimic many types of birdsong, which has practical use but he also sometimes uses this for fun.
- His favourite creatures are cephalopods, which is ironic since he lives and works so far from the ocean.
- Tracker will often read out stories aloud to Dreamy, who has dyslexia.
- Due to olfactory overloads cannot stand strong smells, so his home can sometimes smell 'clinical' in terms of cleanliness.
- Tracker is a very health conscious Smurf in terms of eating, more so than the average Smurf and doesn't really eat a lot of junk or sweets
