The Wanderverse (AKA Smurfs: The Wanderers) is a patchwork fanfiction series written by Firelance2361 featuring new characters and settings that exist in a similar universe to the one portrayed in the Smurfs. It is a work-in-progress fanfic with an exploration of the history of the Smurfs drawing from various elements from the 1981 TV show, and the 2017 feature film Smurfs: The Lost Village.

Overview[]

In the year 1985, Nick Stayne - a down on his luck human from the normal world - receives an enchanted medallion, which upon activating takes him to the world of the Smurfs. If getting stuck in another world populated by Smurfs wasn't enough, the big kicker: he's become one himself, and one with magic abilities.

Now, alongside a dazzling enchantress, a crafty freelancer, and a whole bunch of knights and wizards, he's gonna have to learn how to keep up in this new world while trying all the while to stave off it's dangers. No pressure...

Timeline[]

410-991 A.D. (Dark Ages)[]

  • The Dark Ages Occur
  • King Arthur takes the throne of Camelot and wields Excalibur, hoping to unite the peoples of Camelot, both human and mystical.
  • During his campaign, Arthur is assassinated by Morgana Le Fay, in an attempt to seize all magical power for herself. During a fight with Merlin the Mighty, a magical blast of cosmic proportions.
  • The blast creates a wave of mystical energy that morphs the many of the surviving residents of Camelot and the surrounding kingdoms, turning them into what would become the predecessors to the Smurfs. The landscape is also morphed as well, with the energy of the blast creating a new powerful element: Esoterium.
  • To stop Morgana from using the Esoterium to her own desires, Merlin used his power to splitting the Mortal plane into two, creating a parallel dimension that coexisted as the same time as the Earth itself, resulting in his demise.

  • Nick Stayne returns from a long day's work to a phone call, informing him of his grandmother's untimely passing. After driving over to her old estate to settle some of her affairs, he finds an old medallion Vidanya left to him in her will, along with a letter as well.
  • The following night, depressed, Nick accidentally activated the medallion, opening a wormhole to the Realm of the Smurfs. Upon waking up in the new realm, Nick then found himself in the form of a Smurf. After a panicking moment of getting adjusted to his new form, Nick did his best to find his way through the dense forest.
  • The world-displaced Smurf woke up deep in the forest south of Pallidor where, after getting his bearings, found himself now in the form of a Smurf.
  • After spending a night in a nearby cave, Nick ventured out further into the forest accidentally spots Teddy Whitford of Pallidor who mistakes him for an intruder and runs off.
  • Nick tries to find the city in question, unti he ends up stumbling and falling down a hill, where he ends up meeting Millie Mulberry. After a brief bit of hesitation, Millie he befriends the Human-Smurf Hybrid and decides to give him shelter at her old mentor's house.

Setting[]

  • This series mainly takes place in the Realm of The Smurfs in the ancient city of Pallidor, years before the events of Smurfs: The Lost Village. In the human world, it takes place in the mid to late 1980's, when Nick Stayne inherited his grandmother's medallion and travelled across the Realms.
