Wooly is a Smurf character that is a minor part of the Butterverse.

History[]

Wooly was the first Smurfling delivered as part of the current generation of Smurfs in Papa’s village, and is a keen community figure from the side-lines. He currently resides in the village.

Wooly has a Texan accent.

Personality[]

Wooly is generally good natured however he can be pretty ornery at times and much prefers being left alone or in the company of Spinner Smurf. He tends to feel uncomfortable around smurflings he doesn’t know well and takes a bit of a ‘back in my day’ attitude, but once he spends some time with the individuals he warms up nicely to them.

Wooly is very gentle when it comes to sheep, even if he doesn’t keep them the same way Farmer keeps his snails, they’re his favourite animal and Wooly treats them with respect.

Appearance[]

Wooly is a male Smurf of above average height and a fairly muscular build. He wears a red neckerchief, standard white Smurf tights and a brown belt where he keeps his shears and clippers. Wooly’s hat resembles a Smurf hat except woollen and with a woollen tail at the back.

Wooly’s eyebrows are thicker than most Smurfs and of light brown colour.

Role In Village[]

Wooly’s job is to sheer the human’s sheep on the “night of the wool” to bring back to Smurf village to make winter coats and other necessities. In exchange he leaves a basket of solid gold smurfberries.

During his off season, Wooly tends to partake in regular Smurf chores.

Relationships[]

Spinner Smurf[]

Spinner is Wooly’s best friend, business partner and queerplatonic partner, so naturally the two are very close. Whilst Wooly, unlike Spinner, has SOME capacity to feel romantic attraction, he’s actually very grateful to have someone like Spinner where he feels the agreement is mutual and doesn’t have to worry he’s going to put less effort or grow bored because their relationship is platonic.

Wooly was hesitant to become Spinner’s signature donor at first, but agreed under the condition that Spinner remain a mainly single parent and hide Wooly’s involvement. This lead to issues further down the line that the two end up arguing over, before ultimately reconciling as Wooly attempted to comfort a heartbroken Spinner who’s son had just ran away. Currently they’re back to the status quo of best friends / QPRs.

Wrangler Smurf[]

Wooly is Wrangler’s biological father, although this information was hidden from Wrangler for some years. Wrangler was under the impression that Wooly was merely a close family friend, even referring to him as ‘Unka Wooly’. This didn’t stop Wooly from looking out for Wrangler from afar, and he became more involved when Wrangler showed signs of inheriting a LOT from Wooly – including his affinity for wrangling animals, which earned him his name from Wooly as a ‘right little Wrangler’.

Wooly for the most part wants to stay out of trouble with Spinner, which means keeping an eye on Wrangler and insisting that he listen to Spinner even when Wooly disagrees with the style of parenting (something he attempts to remove involvement in). Following the revelation of their biological connection, Wooly is a little more relaxed and open with Wrangler, but continues to be much more of an ‘uncle’ figure in his life as oppose to a second dad.

Tailor & Weaver Smurf[]

Wooly also works with Tailor and Weaver as business partners, but less so than Spinner.

Nat, Slouchy, Snappy & Sassette[]

Wooly was originally annoyed with the four smurflings thinking they had no respect or understanding of the wool trade, but after letting them accompany him to Molar Mountain, has grown fond of them.

Tracker Smurf[]

Wooly and Tracker dated briefly during their teen years till Wooly broke it off knowing Tracker was more into it than he was. They’re still sort of friends but don’t interact much.
